Anti-Racism 101:Interrupting Racism, Unconscious Bias&Beyond
People are grappling with terms such as privilege, unconscious bias, micro-aggression, and systemic racism, wondering where to ask their questions and what to say and do. The course will support accountants to answer these questions and to monitor their own words and actions thereby leading to an environment where employees, contractors and clients feel safe, welcome, and included.
OBJECTIVE:
Over the past year, racism has been front and centre in the news. Many people are expressing shock and outrage regarding incidents of racism and hate right. People are grappling with terms such as privilege, unconscious bias, micro-aggression, and systemic racism, wondering where to ask their questions and what to say and do.
The course will support accountants to answer these questions and to monitor their own words and actions thereby leading to an environment where employees, contractors and clients feel safe, welcome, and included. Not only will participants have the opportunity to examine aspects of Canadian history that led us to systemic discrimination and exclusion, but they will have the opportunity to tackle real life examples and cases to enable the creation of safer communities and workplaces moving forward. Participants will be engaged via video, question and answer, quizzes, games, cases examples and more.

- increase their comfort and confidence in addressing race and racism,
- be aware of and reduce unconscious bias & micro-aggressions,
- utilize tools to interrupt racism, and
