OBJECTIVE:
The seminar is aimed at participants that want an understanding of IFRS but do not have to implement the standards or understand all the technical details. The course provides a brief discussion on the types of entities using IFRS and the impact of IFRS on the development of ASPE. Key concepts of IFRS are discussed and the conceptual framework is examined. Descriptions of IFRS terminology are provided and the basics of IFRS financial statements are reviewed. Participants will leave with an awareness of the essentials of IFRS and the types of financial statements.
WHO WILL BENEFIT:
Accounting professionals who are not required to practice IFRS, but would like a brief high-level overview of the concepts and financial statements. The course is not applicable for those who have recently taken a course in IFRS or want to understand the technical details.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- identify who is required or may elect to use IFRS standards,
- identify basic IFRS concepts and terminology,
- identify IFRS financial statements, and
- access a list of relevant resources (with links).
