OBJECTIVE:
The focus of this seminar is on return preparation and related planning as it relates to terminal tax filings. The seminar will include a review of relevant tax issues, engagement management, up-to-date sources of relevant tax research, and an overview of CRA assessing practices.
WHO WILL BENEFIT:
Practitioners and other professionals who complete individual terminal tax filings and who are interested in understanding related planning strategies.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- establish a plan for approaching terminal filing assignments,
- identify and effectively utilize the different types of tax returns that may be filed for a deceased individual, and
- identify and address significant issues relating to year-of-death filings.
PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of personal tax, and experience preparing T1 personal tax returns is recommended.
